A Fruitful Day in the Riverland!
I am sitting next to the Murray River at Clarks Floodplain, 1,000 acres of Eucalypt forest. My excellent camera assistant (my 5yo son) Jack and I have spent the day filming for a new video for the Nature Foundation of SA. Their Water for Nature program is in full swing and today they tested pumps and sprinklers that will give some thirsty native seedlings and trees a drink.
NFSA has orchestrated the donation and buy back of water that will soon flow across this floodplain. Seedlings that have survived over the last few good years might not make it through this hot summer. With a big drink now they probably will and slowly the fragmented edges of this forest will join up.
It is a big team effort that takes a lot of work. Today I saw some of the awesome effort put in by NFSA, SA Water and the SES, top work folks, makes me proud to be a South Australian.
